In Brazil, there is a total of 30 million hectares of degraded land, with a liability of 21 million hectares to be either restored or compensated through native tree species maintenance in third-parties’ properties.
The innovation
PlantVerd specialises in designing environmental projects and executing forest services for state-owned and private companies in Brazil in the urban real estate development, logistics, mining, energy, oil & gas, and water treatment & sanitation sectors. Its main activity is the recovery of degraded areas by the planting of native tree species on behalf of clients to ensure their compliance with the Brazilian environmental law.
The impact
Since inception, PlantVerd has restored over 2,000 hectares of degraded area, which is equivalent to 2,800 soccer fields, and is has planted over 2.2 million tree seedlings.
