A Warm Welcome to Berlin: The Office Launch Party

A Warm Welcome to Berlin: The Office Launch Party

July 5, 2018

Last night marked the opening of our office space in the lively district of Neukölln, Berlin.

After previously working from co-working spaces, we have made ourselves comfortable in the German capital and now have our very own office. To mark the occasion, we thought it only right to have a party to celebrate.

Why Berlin?

As the centre of social innovation in Germany, Berlin is a very natural choice for our Global Office. At the event we were lucky to have an incredibly diverse crowd from CEOs and founders to young entrepreneurs, with representatives from Make Sense, TBD, SEND, BMZ, The B Team and organisations across the Impact Hub Berlin, as well as many more!

The Launch

We wanted to make the launch a little special, to showcase the work that we do all over the world. So each corner of the room held a different station describing our social businesses:

Golden Bees: Ice Tea with Golden Bees Honey.

Godson Commodities: Homemade chia puddings with Godson chia.

Jali Organic: Dried pineapple with Jali Pineapple.

Hope Development Initiative: Homemade Ugandan Rice balls. (HDI is a rice farming social business for women).

Campo Vivo: baked potatoes to represent our joint venture with McCain.

Moradigna: We showed the video from the Brazilian Social Business, transforming Brazilian homes to be safe and healthy.

Ignis Careers: Our VR headset showed a video of an Ignis Careers lesson, for children living in poverty to learn English and life skills. Taking you straight into the action in India.

Waste Ventures: Our VR headset took our guests directly into a waste pickers colony in Hyderabad, where Waste Ventures collect plastic waste to be recycled at a fair price for the waste pickers.

Impact Water: Filtered water was available to drink, free from water-borne diseases like typhoid and cholera. Something we can take for granted in Germany and with the help of Impact Water, reaches schools in Uganda too!

We also want to say a huge thank you to our legal pro bono partners Freshfields who gave us an awesome moving in gift of a juicer.
