Sourcing Manager (m/f/d), Freelancer

Your Role & Tasks

The Reckitt “Fight for Access” accelerator program in South Africa is a new accelerator focusing on supporting social businesses and entrepreneurs by providing solutions to enable access to WASH in the country. The program starts in September 2022 and will last until February 2023. The application period is expected to start in July and the selection of the entrepreneurs who will be part of the program will take place by the end of August. A parallel program is taking place in Brazil.

The Sourcing Manager (SM) brings sourcing expertise to the program during the initial phase when social entrepreneurs and start-ups need to be identified and contacted. S/he works directly with the Head of Accelerator (HoA) and Program Manager (PM).

Core tasks include :

We are looking to create a solid pipeline of social business for the accelerator with an initial ambition to have a shortlist of 20-30 high-quality social businesses that would, after the selection process, become a program cohort size between 6-10 ventures.

1) Direct & indirect Outreach: Startup identification, contact, and applications

  • Manage the direct outreach on LinkedIn to founders & employees, aiming to create a longlist with +300 relevant applications following the eligibility criteria for the accelerator program.
  • While using partners to source entrepreneurs, creation of partners Package including social media snippets.
  • Selection/filtering to a shortlist of high-quality applications.
  • Managing the dialogue with identified ventures to “convert” them into applications to the program.
  • Efficiently manage the pipeline of identified ventures, applicants, and shortlisted organizations.

2) Sourcing through partners, Communication & PR during the sourcing period

  • Design work on Canva: Social media graphics
  • Partner outreach for sourcing e.g., Pipe Social  - communicate objectives, eligibility & sourcing criteria
  • Reaching out to PR/press/media outlets for coverage of applications open
  • Internal support for Reckitt SA for their internal/external communication during the application phase and lead website updates when required

3) Other tasks

  • Contributing to the structure of the Accelerator Program
  • Supporting the HoA in managing and building relationships with the partners of the program.
  • Creating reports and presentations on identified ventures and applications during the open call and afterward during the selection process.

This is a Freelancer position. In this capacity, the SM needs to be involved in the program for 50% of their time from June to August 2022 both included.

What you bring to the table

  • Background in Economics, Business Administration, Entrepreneurship or relating areas
  • Solid experience in innovation, startup work, impact investing, impact sector or other related areas
  • A proven track record in running accelerator programs or other startup support programs
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects at once, respond to tight timelines, pay attention to detail, and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Passion for social business and the ventures we invest in
  • Experience in the South African market is a must
  • Fluent in English, also fluent in local languages preferred
