The MAN Impact Accelerator opens applications for a third batch!

August 19, 2019

WHAT IS IT?

An 8 month multi-location accelerator for early stage social business startups, looking to scale their business and impact potential.

WHY WAS IT FOUNDED?

Access to mobility is one of the main drivers to alleviate poverty.  More and more social entrepreneurs are tackling the issue and are providing transportation means to the base of the pyramid or are developing innovative solutions for last-mile distribution of essential goods and services. For this reason, we are harnessing the power of global economic player MAN Truck & Bus, to create a community of change-makers that are disrupting the mobility and logistics sector and bringing scalable social impact to the world.  Find out more about our fruitful partnership here.

WHO IS IT FOR?

To be part of the 2019 batch you should be:

  • Based or have a significant presence in either Europe, Brazil, South Africa (and PAN Africa)
  • Creating tangible impact and solving pressing social issues
  • Have a strong mobility or logistics component
  • Be ready for a journey that will transform the way you do social business

WHAT’S THE DEAL?

Scaling a fast-growing startup is hard. The challenge of growing fast is even more challenging when you are stuck in the day to day running of your business whilst your vision is spread across the globe. The MAN Impact Accelerator program offers startups the best prerequisites for growing into strong, scalable businesses by providing access to a diversity of  support, resources, and connections that they need…

  • A world tour to 4 mobility hotspots: Munich, Lisbon, Johannesburg & Sao Paolo.
  • Mentoring with +300 leading industry experts from companies like Airbnb, Amazon, Uber, Google, Maersk and many more.
  • The unique and complementary partnership between YSB and MAN offers unprecedented access to inspiring networks across the globe.
  • Opportunity to build valuable connections with potential investors.
  • All travel and accommodation paid for!

A UNIQUE METHODOLOGY

What we think is our biggest asset and the most unique component of our accelerator program is our mentoring methodology.  We find our mentors tailored to the needs of our startups. This enables us to deliver the most value-added mentoring in the shortest possible time. Read our previous blog post “Forget the “Consulting” Approach” to find out more about its uniqueness. We are grateful to our mentors  for contributing generously to our community by offering their knowledge and assistance.

WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE APPLYING…

We are all about social impact so don’t forget to show us your unbridled passion for what you do and the social problem you are solving when applying to our program!

Additionally, startups should have a founder who is willing to step away from day-to-day operations and travel across the world to 5 locations in order to participate in our program weeks. We take acceleration seriously and hold our startups to high standards so we do expect a lot of them during the program.

With passion and commitment being the driving values of our accelerator, we believe magic can happen for a startup within our ecosystem.

SO IF YOU FIT THE CRITERIA…WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?

Harnessing the Power of Networks for Social Impact : Part I

Networks exist in many forms and serve a vast array of different purposes. There’s the beautiful synergies in nature that allow humans and trees to breathe each other’s waste, and there’s the way that organisations function through a distributed network of interacting social animals. In all these examples, shared purpose and communication (of one type or another) are key.
