On the 20th of September it's the Global Climate Strike. This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Fridays for Future movement, started by Greta Thunberg, and other activist groups. People everywhere will walk out of their homes and workplaces together, and join young strikers in the streets to demand climate justice and emergency action to tackle the climate crisis.
Yunus Social Business is joining in to recognise the climate emergency. We believe it is vital to show our solidarity with the movement as individuals within the organisation well as the organisation as a whole.

Social-business entrepreneur Roshan Miranda saw an opportunity to address the environmental challenges of waste recycling while also improving the livelihoods of waste pickers. He co-founded Waste Ventures India, a social business that works with waste pickers to boost their income and India’s recycling efforts.
India has an enormous population of 1.4 billion, within it there are a staggering amount of people who live rurally with no access to a reliable or regular electricity supply. Roughly a third of the planet’s electricity deficit is in India with only 82% of its inhabitants having access to electricity – meaning a total of 239 million people are left in darkness (as of 2016).
